Kadir's Tree Hostel : Olympos, Turkey

While researching another project, I came across this place which I thought was pretty rad. I love the big open center common area complete with bonfire pit and covered chill zone. Central Squares are crucial!

Twig

http://scraphacker.com/twigs-sticks-diy/

Here is another idea from scrap hacker, these could be like our "address" or path markers .. Depending on how our village works, i just thought this would be cool if everyone was identified by the twig or something.. maybe this only make sense in my head but I am starting to think we should definitely find land with trees, and maybe a pool of natural water :)

Idea for Common Book Area aka Library

Maybe if our village wants to put all of our books in one spot and have a sharing library, we could build a spot (or a library tree house!) around some trees and use the trees for shelving!  Fun and natural.

Walls and Doors

I saw this and it reminded me that I have always wanted trap doors and hide outs.  What if there was a door wall, and one of these opened into a secret room.. I WANT IT!

Scraptastic

This is becoming one of my favorite sites, very quickly.. I found some cool things and there are a lot of recycling projects here.

I found the scrap shack

Just an idea for something cool in the village of pickles gap.

Rainbow Village

cool huh?!

Underground

I was doing some searching for these converted bunkers when I found this... Holy amazing.
Tons of more amazing photos here :

The website itself, although perhaps a bit 'modern' and upscale for our tastes, has lots of cool pictures for homes and things.

Mt. Baldy

Yesterday I went hiking with George up in Icehouse Canyon.
We passed through the town of Mt Baldy, named after the mountain peak.
It was a little SoCal Pickles Gap... I've added it to a Roadtrip Landmark Map.

Check it out on Street View!

Here's some pictures from the hike that got me inspired.

Also, I'm adding a new tag... LANDMARK... for our potential roadtrip!
The flickr map shows where this is. Maybe we create a shared google map for place visit ideas...

Stone Home

Saw this on some random tumblr, and was like "UM YES!"

A book on structures

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0762771461/boingboing
I dont know the first thing about building anything, this seems pretty DIY. Might be a fun/good place to start.

Random Pictures

These arent quite exactly TOTALLY right for our little town, but theres some ideas I like.

Tree houses... um yes.

Using trees as part of the architecture, so crucial. This door is amazing.

Some sort of awesome main hall, this could be our workshop or community center, cafeteria. Just a central place for people to gather in numbers. Tons of couches and tables... This could also play into the hostel idea.

Towers are rad. We should have one. It could be used as a lookout, or an amazing place to have your first kiss!

Pickles Gap Humor

A Pickles Gap restaurant!?

off my rocker con't

I love the giant rocking chair idea. :)!

Off my Rocker!

While taking a drive through some Missouri Country with Terry I saw a big rocking chair.. and I wanted to make one.  Pickles Gap should definitely have a giant rocking chair.  I would sit there.

Barn Hostel

For our visitors, friends, family.  I thought it would be pretty sweet if we had a barn hostel!  Not sure why I am stuck on this one.. it just popped into my head.  But here are some pics/ ideas. Whatever right!
